We already know that the world’s biggest seller of smartphone devices is cooking up something big, and it is likely to be revealed on August 9th. We know this because a couple of weeks ago, Samsung had already sent out invites for an Unpacked event happening on that date in New York City. And there is a very big possibility that the South Korean tech giant will be unveiling its newest smartphone during that event, and everybody is expecting that device to be the Galaxy Note 9 (the follow up to last year’s Galaxy Note 8 phablet).
But it is also quite possible that Samsung will also be formally introducing other new products aside from the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 9. According to leaker extraordinaire Evan Blass, a new tablet might make its debut less than a month from now. As a matter of fact, Blass has recently posted a series of tweets regarding the matter.
His first tweet shows the yet to be announced Galaxy Tab S4 in white, plus an optional keyboard cover. Also, the tweet also depicts what appears to be the new design of Samsung’s S Pen. Blass then went on to tweet another photo of the Galaxy Tab S4’s white (or silver) rear side.
As noted by Android Headlines, the upcoming Galaxy Tab S4 looks to differ significantly from its predecessor, the Galaxy Tab S3, at least as far as the physical design is concerned. For one, the newer model will be doing away with the physical home button, which means that for its latest tablet offering, Samsung will be making full use of on-screen keys.
The Galaxy Tab S4 might also feature slimmer bezels. One can argue that the presence of bezels is more important among tablet users than among smartphone users, simply because one would need something to hold on to (that is not the screen) when operating a tablet. And as hinted earlier, the S Pen also gets an overhaul -- the button has been made thinner, and the latch appears to have been removed.
Blass’ photos also suggest that the Galaxy Tab S4 will be shipping with AKG audio, which is sort of expected, considering that Samsung now owns the AKG brand. The images also show a lone camera on the rear side, as well as an LED flash. Also visible are a couple of loud speakers on the Galaxy Tab S4, and the tablet’s lock screen.
